Sara Vaughn Knocks Six (!) Seconds off 800m PB

Improves to 2:04.77 with 2nd Place at Nike meet in Beaverton, Oregon

Sara Vaughn continued her rocketing 2009 outdoor season last night with a stellar 2:04.77 800m result at the Nike Mile meet held on Nike's Campus in Beaverton, Oregon. "I knew my old mark was weak (2:11.1 from 2006), and the training has been so good the past ten days, I was ready for a big race." Sara led the opening 300m, and passed through the 400m in "about" 62 seconds. "It felt good to run an even pace. I think I have another few seconds in me, and will try to fit another 800m race into my schedule." The 800m was won by the UK's Jemma Simpson in 2:02.93, with Sara taking the runner-up spot.
