Eight Boulder Wave Athletes are ready to compete in next Monday’s three premier international events around the world: The Bupa London 10,000 road race; the revamped Los Angeles Marathon; and the Bolder Boulder 10K.

Olympic Champion Constantina Dita Heads Up the Women’s Field in London
In her first 10K Road Race in 12 months, Constantina Dita will compete in the 2nd annual Bupa London 10,000. The course is the same to be used for the four-loop portion of the 2012 London Olympic Games marathon. Constantina has been training in Romania the past four weeks since the Flora London Marathon and reports that her speed training has been coming along well. With abdominal and liver pains forcing her to a DNF in London last month, Constantina is looking for a return to form, with her main competition expected to come from New Zealand’s Kim Smith.

Romanian and Japanese Women’s Teams in Bolder Boulder’s International Team Challenge
For Monday’s Bolder Boulder 10K, six Boulder Wave women will compete for the Romanian and Japanese teams in the event’s International team Challenge.
Romania will look to defend it’s team title from 2008 with a new look, as only Lidia Simon returns from last year’s trio. Lidia, 8th in last summer’s Beijing Olympic Marathon, will be joined by 2:28 marathoner Adriana Pirtea, who was 3rd at the Fortis Rotterdam Marathon last month; and 72-minute half-marathoner Daniela Cirlan, who just arrived in Boulder from Romania on Wednesday night as a substitute for Luminita Talpos.
Team Japan is stellar, and should also be fighting for a podium position in the team competition. The trio includes Kiyoko Shimahara of the Second Wind AC, who won the Honolulu Marathon in December and was 3rd in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon in October; Hiromi Ominami of the Toyota Auto Body club, who brings in a 31:35.18 PB for 10,000m and also a 2:23:26 marathon PB; and up-and-coming 23 year-old Yurika Nakamura of the Tenmaya team, who ran 31:31.95 on the track last year, was 13th at the Beijing Olympic Marathon last summer, and has already secured a spot on Japan's team for this autumn’s IAAF World Half-Marathon Championship.
