Yoshitaka Iwamizu Dominates Steeplechase at Japan National Championships

Achieves Berth to Olympic Games for 2nd Time

Yoshitaka Iwamizu proved once again why he is Japans' best runner in the 3000-meter steeplechase by winning his seventh title in the event on June 29. Iwamizu was easily the favorite having come in as the only male to achieve the Olympic “A” standard in the event. The veteran won the race in a time of 8:29.75. Iwamizu, aside from having the most gold medals in the 3,000m owns the Japanese National record in a time of 8:18.93. Iwamizu will be one to keep your eyes on as heads to the Olympic Games for the second time this August.
